My Beach Bag Essentials. (Jacklyn)

Spending long days at the beach can be hard work... In preparation for this upcoming week in Cabo, I thought I would share my favorite beach "must haves." Overall, the MOST important thing to stress is skin care. Because our sensitive, vampire-like skin will suddenly be exposed to such intense heat we must take care of it!

2012 Beach Bag List:

Of course the bag is key. This retro straw tote covers both function and fashion. The large, square shape will hold anything from oversized hats to lip balm.

This Floppy Hat found at Gap for under $50 is a great way to keep the sun out of your face for an afternoon.

Short, flowy dresses are the best beach option. This 'Midnight Kisses' dress found at Free People is the perfect poolside dress to quickly slip on and off.

Lighter-lensed sunglasses are the best compliment to tan skin. Check out these Vince Camuto Metal Aviator Sunglasses at Nordstrom for under $100.

I have found that having a lightweight scarf around is extremely beneficial in warding off unwanted burns. While laying out, to avoid extreme face burns, place a light scarf (like
this) over your face.

Lilly Pulitzer makes some great sandals. These 'Shelly Jelly Sandals' (found on Zappos) are both comfortable and cute.

Bringing nice cameras to the beach is an instant death sentence. Stocking up on disposable cameras will not only save you from sandy lenses, but also make for hilarious moments
 waiting to be developed.

For those of you looking for a mid-afternoon beauty pick-me-up. Try this Frederik Fekkai wave spray. It smells great and will give you effortless waves, until you decide to jump back in them.

If you do choose to wear mascara at the beach, please choose the $8 waterproof option. No one wants to see black mascara running down your face.

Lip care is something that is usually overlooked while in the sun. Make sure you have a good SPF lip balm. I am an avid user of this Kiehl's lip balm to avoid burnt or cracked lips.

Although most people think SPF 30 can suffice for their entire body-- they are wrong. Because the face has such sensitive skin compared to the rest of the body, a higher SPF is necessary in saving it from harsh burns, sun spots, and wrinkles.

Moisturizing after the sun will absolutely save you from pealing and tender burns. Try this Clarins option that saves skin and extends tans.

Drinking water all day is extremely important. Having a water bottle nearby is a great idea--especially if it is bubbly water mixed with a little something ;)
